Who is Sevilla's new football director?
Antonio Cordón is the new football director of Sevilla FC. He has coached Villarreal, Monaco, Betis and Olympiacos, and led the team to win the French Ligue 1, Copa del Rey and UEFA Champions League. He replaced the controversial Horta, and his goal is to reverse the team's poor performance in the past two seasons and help Sevilla return to the middle level of La Liga.
Sevilla FC announced on its official website: "After the departure of former director Victor Horta, Antonio Cordon became the club's new football director and signed a three-year contract with the club."
Antonio Cordon was born in 1963. He started his football management work at Villarreal in the 1999-2000 season. After working there for 17 years, he went to Monaco Club and won the French Ligue 1 championship with the team. A season later, he became the sports CEO of Hope Group, which included Granada, Parma, Chongqing Lifan, Tondela CD (Portuguese League) and other clubs. In three seasons, Granada and Parma were promoted to the top league.
Antonio Cordon then went to the Ecuadorian Football Association for a few months, and returned to Spain during the epidemic. He worked for Betis Club for another three years and won the 2021-22 King's Cup with the team. After that, Antonio Cordon went to the Greek Olympiacos Club and won the UEFA League with the team. Prior to joining Sevilla FC, Antonio Cordon was the football director at Five Eleven Capital.
